NOTICE OF Thunder Bay & District Injured Workers Support Group (TB&DIWSG) Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Greetings and Salutations,

May this message see you all in good health and hope this winter is not too harsh.

Doug Ford is an ogre and a bad friend to labour.  Giving over $10billion in cash and rebates to all employers regardless of their accident record is uncool.  Thunder Bay employers received over $17million in cash and rebates; has anyone seen health and safety improvements in workplaces?

The Thunder Bay Mill is shutting down; what will happen to all the injured who are on their private insurance plan.  (Will premiums continue to be paid?)

Age discrimination is allowed at the WSIB, when you turn 65 your benefits end. If you are a worker who is 63+ and get injured at work, you will only receive a maximum of 2 years of benefits.  This really sucks if you’re seriously injured.

Our fight continues, and it seems like we do win some skirmishes.

The Meredith Act passed first reading in the Legislature.

Some of the issues we are protesting include:

·      Age 65 discrimination

·      Deeming

·      Claim suppression

·      Paper doctors

·      Pre-existing conditions

Our election for board members will be held at our  and we encourage anyone interesting in learning about this position is encouraged to contact a board member.

Join us at the Roots Community Food Centre on 450 Fort William Rd,
Thunder Bay, Thursday, March 19 2026 at 6:30 pm for a small meal and then the meeting will be from 7 to 9 pm.
